I've been having a problem with pornography. I feel guilty and want to become completely pure of all of that. Please pray for me. I'm just so lost and I really don't want to make the same mistakes again. I want to walk by faith.

Casey, I'll be praying for you. It can be tough when your body begins craving things; but, more than trying to "not drink," replace that with something else (Bible study, exercise, etc.). I'm sure the Corps has some sort of program where you can self-identify and get treatment if you need it - if it gets to that point, don't be afraid to use those resources.

I'm a christian in the Marine Corp and lately I have been having a drinking problem. This has never been an issue but lately drinking has become a priority. Your prayers are coveted

I'll be praying for you both, Christian and Paul. My pastor has a saying that makes a lot of sense. He says "Victory isn't you overcoming sin, it's Jesus overcoming you."

The best advice I can give you is two-fold. First, accept that this is not a one-time battle; until God takes us home, we'll have that double-nature that Paul describes in Romans 7 - the whole chapter is great, but he really begins digging into this around verse 15.

The second is that a "I'm not going to think about that" strategy is doomed for failure. Rather, concentrate on catching yourself when these thoughts arise, and replace them with thoughts on Scripture. Whether this is writing about Scripture, or the verses themselves, put something in to force out what shouldn't be there. One thing you may consider is getting small cards that would fit in your pocket, and writing verses that you find meaningful. Then, when a though pops into your head, pull out the card and read over that verse.

As I said above, I will be praying for both of you.

I have impure thoughts and desires. I have not been able to control them.
Please pray for me so that I will find the strength to conquer my sins and become worthy of God.

I will pray for you Christian. Please don't despair. JESUS will pull you through if you stay patient with yourself and quietly talk to JESUS about your problems.
